COLUMBUS, OHIO – This past weekend, during the Ohio Democratic Party State Dinner, Democrats presented Ohio Education Association President Patricia Frost-Brooks with the Democrat of the Year Award. The award was presented to President Frost-Brooks by House Minority Leader Armond Budish. In response to the award, Ohio Democratic Chairman Chris Redfern released the following statement:

“The Democrat of the Year Award is presented to a member of our State Party who best embodied our ideals as Democrats. Patricia Frost-Brooks is this year’s winner thanks to her fearless leadership for so many years, in the classroom, within the Democratic Party, and within the labor movement.

“In addition to serving on the Ohio Democratic Party Executive Committee, she is currently serving her second term as the President of the Ohio Education Association. She has led the OEA and its members through many complex and challenging issues facing public education, including the resounding, successful defeat of Senate Bill 5 last year. It is my honor to thank Patricia on behalf of the Ohio Democratic Party for her tireless work for Ohioans.”
