American Civic Education Teacher Awards
Applications Due February 16

The American Civic Education Teacher Awards are given annually to three K-12 teachers of civics, government, and related fields who have demonstrated special expertise and enthusiasm in motivating students to learn about the U.S. Congress, the Constitution, and public policy. ACETA winners receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., to participate in an educational program that includes meeting members of Congress and other key officials, observing committee hearings in Congress, and visiting sites such as the National Archives and the U.S. Supreme Court. For the application and more information, visit one of the three sponsoring organizations' websites: the Center for Civic Education, the Center on Congress at Indiana University, and the National Education Association.

The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards
and the National Council of Teachers of English
partner on The National Gallery of Writing

The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards has partnered with the National Council of Teachers of English to participate in their National Gallery of Writing by having their own gallery specifically for NBCTs (http://galleryofwriting.org/galleries/NBPTS). NCTE has a goal for this project of collecting a submission from every American, and NBPTS has adapted that goal to fit our community: they hope to collect one piece of writing from all 74,000+ NBCTs!  When you visit the gallery, you will find a prompt and guidelines for submissions, as well as some moving pieces they have already collected.
