When an education professional becomes a member of OEA, he/she automatically becomes a member of four separate but united organizations--the local, district, state and national associations. These organizations work together to give members the comprehensive protection and services for which OEA/NEA has become known. Service is provided to members through staff working in 25 offices throughout the state as well as in OEA Headquarters, located in Columbus. As part of its Service Delivery Plan, OEA has divided the state into five regions, each of which has its own Regional Coordinating Council (RCC). Each RCC works with the local associations in its region to assess and address the service needs of that region. OEA governance, made up of elected members, determines the direction and policies of the Association, while staff carries out that direction and provides day-to-day service to members. Below is a visual representation of how the governance and staff structures of OEA work together to deliver comprehensive, quality service to members at the local level.
